SO CRITICAL SO FASHION

Can Design tell the story of a Country?

March 27/2010 through February 27/2011
Triennale di Milano,
Viale Alemagna 6

QUALI COSE SIAMO....."The things We Are" is the literal translation of the title of this exhibition dedicated to Design.

Through a collection of over eight hundred Italian "things" - from colorful ceramic heads to vintage cars, from lamps to the worldwide known Murano glass, from perfumes to talking forks (yes!) – this exhibition takes the viewers not only through some of the most meaningful samples of Italian design and arts&crafts, but also through the story of each individual object.

For those who are not true experts in design, some of these stories may be difficult to understand, but the path that the exhibition traces remains interesting and very appealing.

Fair of The Artisan/Artigiano in Fiera

This week marks a very special event in the life of Milan. Every year Milan holds a trade fair where all of the artisans from Italy and around the world come together to sell their wares. This fair is held at the beginning of December and really kicks off the holiday shopping season.

The new fairgrounds in Rho is decked out and all of the pavillions are dedicated to either the regions of Italy or to various countries/continents around the world.

All of the products on display are hand-made and tend to be of very high quality. For those not living in Italy, it is the best place to find high quality gifts made in Italy (or around the globe) to take back home.

In addition to the products on display, each pavillion has a dedicated food court with various restaurants selling the culinary delights of that region or area of the world.

The fair runs from December 5 through the 13th and the opening hours are:

During weekends and holidays: 10:00 - 22:30
On weekdays: 15:00 - 22:30

We recommend taking the Red Subway line and getting off at Rho/Fiera. The fairgrounds are to be found directly above subway station.

There are specially priced tickets for the fairgrounds and they can be purchased in the vending machines in the stations or at any news agent's. Rho is outside of the city limits, so a normal "in city" ticket is not enough. You must purchase a ticket for the Fairgrounds.
